Providing a quality, balanced diet to meet the demands of each life stage is important. As rabbits age their bodies need additional support for digestive, immune and cognitive health.
Rabbit Origins Senior provides veterinary formulated nutrition, with fresh farm grown virgin hay at its core. The unique life stage formula also benefits from the inclusion of functional ingredients to assist rabbits with the challenges experienced in their senior years.
As our care and knowledge around animal health improves, we have seen the lifespans of our pet’s increase. This brings a new range of age-related health conditions we need to be aware of as pet owners. Ageing rabbits may begin to experience a multitude of age-related health conditions such as the slowing of their metabolism, arthritis and deterioration in cognitive function.
One of the best ways we can support our animals is through diet. Rabbit Origins Senior has been specifically formulated with the needs of ageing rabbits in mind. Veterinary formulated with balanced vitamins, minerals, amino acids and increased fibre to provide optimum support. Additionally functional ingredients have been selected to target specific health conditions.
Arthritis causes inflammation and stiffness of the joints; this often develops as animals age. Vegan glucosamine, is included as it provides the nutritional components for the maintenance of healthy joints, supporting joint function and repair.
Supporting gastrointestinal function as rabbits age is critical to their health as their digestive systems begin to slow. A nine-strain blend of postbiotics is used to help support digestive and immune function. Additionally, prebiotics are included to help good bacteria in the gut flourish.
As rabbits age cognitive and retinal function may begin to decline. DHA and EPA are omega-3 fatty acids used in many functions of the body, but predominately in the cell structures of the brain and retina. Supplementing the diet with DHA and EPA assists in maintaining cognitive and retinal function and the supporting the immune system.
